MY NAME IS IN THE WAILING WALL
A Story for Yom Kippur-The Day of Atonement Today, October 1, marks the holiest day in the Jewish calendar. It is the day that Jehovah set aside for his people to stop their wilderness wandering for a few days and reflect on their transgressions, upsets and separateness from each other, and He Himself. Atonement; At-One-Ness with each other and God was its original purpose.

Oral Cancer Awareness Month focuses on raising awareness and providing resources for the prevention and early detection of oral cancer, especially among older adults. Statistics About Oral Cancer
Causes, Risks and Treatment for Dental Food Impaction
Have you noticed food stuck between your teeth from time to time? As annoying as this situation can be, this minor nuisance should not be ignored. You may have developed a food impaction or have a "food impaction site" if you have difficulty removing food particles from your gums or teeth. Dental food impaction can be particularly troublesome to mature adults and seniors, especially as the teeth begin crowding or shifting in the later years of life. About Dental Food Impaction Oral food impaction occurs when particles of food become trapped in the teeth or gums. Dental food impaction is a common problem as small remnants or particles of food easily wedge between teeth while chewing or after eating. For some people, these particles can also become lodged or stuck under the tissue surrounding the teeth. This condition is also known as food trapping.
Dentures vs. Dental Implants
Thanks to technology, we have multiple options for many of life’s biggest decisions here in Temecula, CA. Finding a solution for missing teeth is no different. Do you choose dentures like 90 percent of the endentulous population, or do you go with dental implants and their 98% success rate? To determine which option is right for you, it’s important to look at the benefits and drawbacks of each. Pros and Cons of Dentures For many adults, dentures may seem like the best option for replacing missing in Temecula, CA. After all, they have several benefits, such as helping you have a beautiful smile and chew most of the foods you enjoy. Neither would be possible with missing teeth. Dentures are also fairly affordable.

Why Hydration is Important for Oral Health
Hydration is always a crucial health topic and widely promoted as essential to medical well-being. Less commonly known, however, is why hydration is important for oral health. As we enter the warmer summer months, ensuring our bodies are well-hydrated becomes increasingly important. In fact, drinking water becomes even more critical for those over 55 as certain age-related changes increase the risk of dehydration. If you do not take care to drink enough water each day, you may become dehydrated. Warning signs of dehydration include: Urine that is dark yellow in color

How to Find the Right Dentist for Seniors in Temecula

Is there a doctor on board?
30,000 feet above Las Vegas "Is there a doctor on board?" A shout came from the front of the plane. I leaned back in my seat and hoped for another doctor to leap up and go handle whatever the emergency was. But there was no movement, as the passengers looked around questioningly.

Mail Order Dentures from Sears?
A True Story of Vintage Dentistry My Uncle Royal would have turned 100 this year had he lived. As it was he lived the most productive and full life of anyone I know. Farmer, woodsman, naturalist, gardener-extraordinaire, mechanic, builder, business owner, and as a long-time Vermont state legislator, he wrote and got passed some of the earliest conservation and clean environment laws. I guess I should add "dentist" to that list. Somewhere in his late 30s he did what apparently a few backwoods* farmers did in the 1940s - he sent away to Sears and Roebuck, in Chicago, for a do-it-yourself mail order denture kit. I don't want to even think of what he did to extract his teeth! So, he got this kit in the mail with instructions on how to mix-up the goop and bite down on the filled trays in his mouth. Then he packaged it all up, checked-off the tooth color and size, and presto - he had a new set of dentures in the mail six weeks later!

The Wisdom of My Mother
A favorite photo of my mother, a nurse with unparalleled strength and beauty. Keep reading for one of her favorite sayings. Last month I wrote of an idyllic moment in my young life on a Vermont late-winter day when sugaring was in full swing (read it here). But I hinted that this was a fleeting moment of calm before life’s storms uprooted me and my siblings, and we were moved 2400 miles west to Napa, California.

Let's Come Together
Reflections on the Spirit of Christmas As I write this, it is the early days of the Christmas Season with the first lights up in the neighborhoods of Temecula, and I see strangers smiling and saying “hello” with just a little more feeling than usual. Yesterday, I saw one store clerk hugging an older lady, and I jokingly said, “What about me?” Without hesitation she laughed, opened her arms and said, “Oh yes dear, you too!” It’s a warm, wonderful time, and I revel in it as the years pass.

Reflections on the Spirit of Christmas By Dr. Dave Cutts I never would have thought that a memorial service would be the inspiration for this year's Christmas story*. But, here it is.

How Oral Health Affects Mental Health in Senior Adults
Maintaining mental health in older adults is essential for a fulfilling and healthy life. While proper sleep, physical activity, and stress management are well-known contributors to emotional well-being, one area that’s often overlooked is oral health. How Are Mental and Oral Health Connected? According to the American Psychiatric Association, there is a strong connection between oral health and mental well-being. These two areas of health are deeply intertwined, forming a cycle where poor mental health can lead to neglected oral hygiene—and vice versa. Understanding this relationship can help older adults take a more holistic approach to their healthcare.

Tooth sensitivity to cold and heat starts and stops suddenly and is usually triggered by extreme temperatures in food, beverages, or the air.
